Rathbone Blue Chip Income and Growth Fund

Important note:  Following the IMA’s decision to move the ‘Fund’ from the UK Equity Income and Growth sector to the UK Equity Income sector from 1 July 2010, sector data from this date will be shown against its new sector.

Definition of product

  • Focused portfolio of 35-40 stocks in mainly UK equities
  • Usually invests about 75% in FTSE 100 Index stocks
  • Average holding period of 2+ years to gain capital growth

Fund objective

The objective of the fund is to achieve an above-average and steadily increasing income return, coupled with capital growth from a portfolio of transferable securities. The manager’s present intention is that no less than 75% will be invested in transferable securities issued by UK companies. There will be no specialisation in any other geographic area, nor in any industrial or economic sector.

Investment style

The fund invests in companies with management teams that have a proven track record within their industry. The business must be a price-setter, generating consistent high-quality cashflow to reinvest in the business and pay out in the form of a growing dividend stream. Outperformance will stem from a combination of earnings and dividend growth ahead of the market.

Why invest?

  • Inflation-beating dividend pay-outs
  • Investment expertise of Chief Investment Officer Julian Chillingworth

Available for lump sum investment or regular savings into an ISA or as an unwrapped unit trust lump sum or savings plan investment. Charges are 5.5% initial charge and 1.5% per annum annual management charge.

"Investors in our funds will be treated as ‘retail clients’ for the purpose of dealing in units either when buying units from us or selling them back to us. You will enjoy all the protections provided to retail clients by the regulations."

The value of investments and the income from them may go down as well as up and you may not get back your original investment. Past performance should not be seen as an indication of future performance. The Manager’s annual fee is taken from capital.
